LIV Golf Supports Illinois Youth

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – In advance of this week’s LIV Golf Invitational Chicago September 16-18 at Rich Harvest Farms, LIV Golf today announced support for the Kids Golf Foundation of Illinois, a youth charitable organization with impactful outreach programs that assist thousands of children each year throughout the state. This is the fifth consecutive LIV Golf charitable giving commitment made through its LIV to Give platform, which was announced with a $100 million commitment and support for education and career development, environmental sustainability, and golf programs that create positive change and enhance the well-being of communities now and in the future.

Aligned with this commitment, and in collaboration with the Kids Golf Foundation of Illinois, players Sergio Garcia, Charles Howell III, Henrik Stenson and reporter Troy Mullins hosted a clinic at Rich Harvest Farms on Tuesday for individuals with special needs. The group practiced golf drills and shared an inspiring afternoon together at the course, emphasizing the power of sports to unify people from diverse backgrounds and abilities. Then on Wednesday, players Sam Horsfield and James Piot hosted dozens of youth from a local Kids Golf Foundation program. The pros worked with the young players on putting and chipping drills while also discussing the positive impact of athletics, competition, and teamwork.

“LIV Golf is committed to empowering our youngest generation with the resources and opportunities to follow their dreams. The Kids Golf Foundation carries out this important mission by getting kids passionate about the game of golf from an early age while teaching them valuable lessons that will carry over into their lives off the course,” said LIV Golf CEO and Commissioner Greg Norman. “Golf is a force for good and we’re proud to support these efforts that build stronger communities.”

The Kids Golf Foundation of Illinois (KGF) was established to introduce the game of golf to the children of Illinois. KGF partners with local Park and Recreation departments, YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, Boy and Girl Scouts, public schools, ministry groups and other youth organizations to teach children the fundamentals of the sport while helping them learn important life skills through golf. KGF will utilize LIV Golf’s donation to fund a variety of golf programs over multiple years in partnership with organizations in the region, providing support to program sites to carry out their services, including outreach, athletic equipment, training, and additional resources that ensure impactful experiences for local youth.

“Since 1998, the Kids Golf Foundation has impacted the lives of over 250,000 children within Illinois,” said Michala Mika, Foundation Director. “LIV Golf’s donation will help us reach more than 30,000 children at over 300 program sites, providing teaching tools, equipment, educational opportunities, scholarships, and more.”

“Over the years, more than 1,500 of our kids have been exposed to golf instruction, coaching, golf equipment, events and invaluable life lessons through the good work of the Kids Golf Foundation,” said Anderson SmithGolf for Life NFP founder. “Our kids need these programs and mentors today more than ever.”

Local schools and organizations who wish to learn more about opportunities with Kids Golf Foundation should email info@kidsgolffoundation.org to see about ways to partner and help local kids gain exposure to golf and all it can offer.
